I was lucky enough to get tickets at the last minute (Thanks Erin!) to Daisuke's first game at Fenway last night. I have never seen so many satellite trucks at the ballpark. Unbelievable. Not as many cameramen as I thought, but there were plenty of flashbulbs when Ichiro came to bat. Before the game, we picked up some free K signs to celebrate the sanshins (strikeouts) and a page with Japanese baseball translations. Unfortunately, the Sox didn't give us much chance to say "Naisu hitto!" (Nice hit!). Just one measly hit. In retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have been so happy that we managed not to have gotten no-hit. Would have been a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a no-no in person. Dice-K was good, not great, but it should be a fun ride all year. No doubt they were
up early (or late) catching this one back at Fenway Park in Kyoto.
